First off —
We might have found a really great new space for our studio! It’s really exciting.
SO, please cross your fingers for us.
🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
And then -
Have you ever wondered who designs the curriculum for all of these programming schools and boot camps? Who designs the college course? Sometimes it’s the teachers / but sometimes its just a giant book that they follow.
(it’s sooo big!) (it’s also 6 or more years behind) (it’s not terrible… but it isn’t great)
Other times - in these “boot camp” type schools, they hire a technical writer or two and have them write out the course. Then they say thank you and the creator takes their one-time payment and goes away. From there, they hire students from within to teach it. It’s not as nefarious as a “Pyramid Scheme” - but it’s technically a pyramid scheme… isn’t’ it? Luckily - not everyone wants to be a designer.
They probably spend 50k on the curriculum and $5,000,000 on advertising and ‘student acquisition.’
Well - let us introduce our pyramid scheme
Our program works like this: learn one thing, then the next, then the next…
It practically writes itself… if you have the right goal in mind. Our goal was to train fantastic developers to get out there and save the world.
But who wrote it!? How did it get made? How is it different? How did we know what to teach and in what order?
It’s simple: just hundreds of books, online-courses, articles, projects, ten years of design and programming every day, and a LOT of interesting conversations… and then we took all of that, got rid of all the unimportant stuff - and organized it in a step by step process based on importance. (feel free to borrow the technique)
It’s basically the last 10 years of Derek’s professional life mixed in with art college and a bunch of life experiences / and YOU! (you are the most important part) We can’t have the conversation without you. (and a lot of special guests)
Here’s the full story: https://perpetual.education/how-we-designed-our-curriculum/
In this video, Derek walks through all of the books and concepts that we cover in the course. There’s nothing secret — it’s just focused daily concepts - and YOU discovering all of your new talents. It’s fun - and it works.
What else…
We asked the Dev.to community of programmers - what they were doing to pay things forward — and basically received no answers: https://dev.to/perpetual_edu/how-are-you-paying-it-forward-as-a-developer-3b8m
That’s pretty scary.
Do you have someone in your life, who you’d trust to wield history’s most powerful communication platform?
Send them to us. Let us train them.
