Updates and a possible September session?

Student updates
Alpha-four and alpha-five are doing really great! Alpha-four is finishing up a pretty big project that involved a lot of concepts coming together and are moving on to the interactive client-side portion of the course. Alpha-five just finished up their mock-client project and are about to start getting deep into SVG and Responsive layouts.

School updates
As you may know, we’ve been working on an accessibility-first reworking of the front-end of out entire system. In true PE style, we’ll be documenting the whole thing and we’ve lined up a bunch of really awesome people with diverse accessibility needs/use-cases to help guide our user-centered design process.
Our new experiment: code-name “Survivor series” is on hold until the new front-end is in place.
Site updates
We’ve added a bunch of new areas of the site map. Since adding “Study hall” during alpha-three, Derek and Brian (alpha-two) have also been working hard on our new “milestones” view, language “features” glossary, and a host of awesome new internal tools that allow us to better serve our students (and find things in our ever growing collection of resources). We’re excited to show them off!
Ivy and Derek are working on some new on-boarding materials and videos about how all these new features fit into the student journey.
The next session
We weren’t sure what to do. Since we’re not beholden to a board of shareholders pushing us to raise revenue, we get to choose what best suits the current students and the school in the long run.
That being said, a new group of prospective students have emerged. It’s always interesting when interest bubbles up in a burst!
Quite a few (awesome) people would like to start ASAP and were disappointed that a September group wasn’t officially starting. But - that’s really up to the students.
Carpe diem
We talked with few groups last week and are having more meetings this week. If enough people want to start a session mid September, we will happily answer the call.
